It seems like everyone and their dog has a website nowadays, so it can be hard to find a site that makes you want to return to it again and again. We thought we’d compile a list and open up the discussion for sites you love in the comments section.

So, in no particular order:

  1. IEEE’s Engineering 360:This site has a combination of news articles, information about standards, product information, a community for engineers, and a reference library.
  2. is probably one of the oldest websites out there for engineers. Their treasure trove of news, jobs, resources, etc. make this the go-to website for engineers.
  3. This forum is part of, but it’s pretty cool, so we wanted to have a separate entry for it. You can be any kind of engineer and they’ll have a community for you. The Electric Power & Transmission & Distribution Forum, for example, is a great resource for electrical engineers.
  4. Electricity Forum: If you’re an electrical engineer, this site combines electrical engineering news, training courses, buyer’s guide, etc., which makes it perfect for keeping up with industry trends. You can also subscribe to their print/online magazines, Electricity Today and Intelligent Power Today.
  5. LinkedIn: We’ve talked about LinkedIn before, for both engineers and engineering firms. We wanted to mention it again because it’s a fantastic way to keep in touch with other engineers and maintain your network of friends, clients and colleagues.

What’s the one website you can’t live without? We’re hoping that it’s ours, of course, but just in case it isn’t, please let us know in the comments section.
